Roots and Shoots Members Volunteer at the Gibbon Center, February 19th
2006.
See photos.
Last
semester, members of the PSA and Roots & Shoots played Santa Claus to a
group of former biomedical chimpanzees residing at the Wildlife
Waystation. Everyone brought in paper towel rolls, which we wrapped in
Christmas paper and filled with popcorn, nuts, cereal, gummy bears, and
other goodies. We made close to 80 yummy gifts for the chimps, which
were delivered the week before Christmas. Former PSA president
Kat White, a volunteer at the Waystation, helped hand
out the presents and witnessed the fun the chimps had opening them.

PSA Mission Statement
The Primatology Student Association's goals are to promote primate
conservation, provide a forum for students to discuss the latest issues
in primatology, and link the department's primatology program to the
community. The coordinator works with a faculty advisor to develop
projects that promote educational experiences involving nonhuman
primates (fieldtrips, workshops, etc.); and through the Anthropology
Students Association (ASA) works with the ICC Representative to request
funds for such projects.
Roots & Shoots Mission Statement
Roots & Shoots' purpose is to foster a global environmental and
humanitarian effort to bolster care and concern for our human community,
our environment, and all animals. It aims to empower individuals to
take action and change the world, one project at a time. It aims to
spread knowledge about caring for the earth and its inhabitants.
