Music and Religion:  Views on religion, spirituality and magic in popular music

Here is an opportunity to scour your music collection.  Find songs by secular musicians that explore themes of religion, spirituality and magic.  Provide information and an interpretation in the template below.  For the description, in about 75-125 words, describe and interpret what the song says about religion, spirituality or magic.  If you use lyrics, limit them to 1 or 2 lines, a stanza at most.

You can earn 1 extra credit point for each 3 songs, for a maximum of 3 points (i.e., 9 songs).  The songs should not be from the same album.  The due date is the last class of the semester.

Check the webpage where I have collected songs from previous semesters (Music and Religion).  You are invited to correct any information that is in error (voluntarily), and add your description to songs already posted (for the extra credit points).  Though I have been lax in previous semesters, only a complete entry will be considered for the points this semester.  Your entry will be added to the site, so make sure to edit and proofread it.  Your name will be listed with your entry if you give permission.

Copy and paste the following template to your Microsoft Word document, and fill in the information.  Paste the song part of the template (beginning with Title) once for each song.  Attach the Word document to an email with "anth 305 music" in the subject line (yes, I will accept attachments for this project, as they are easier to copy and paste).
